Chelle Oldham –

Chelle is a multi-talented individual with a diverse background, a passion for science, and an enthusiasm for sharing her knowledge with the world. From her experiences as an Employment Consultant, Kitchen Manager, and Qualified Chef in remote areas across Australia, Chelle discovered her deep-seated interest in science and the stars. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science with a Double Major in Astronomy and Space Sciences, and Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Southern Queensland, she does so as a remote student. Additionally, Chelle is actively involved in the Phoenix Award, an extracurricular program that complements her studies.

She is captivated by the way science intertwines with all aspects of life and careers. In her perspective, whether you’re passionate about art, sports, or any other field, there’s always a scientific aspect worth exploring.

Astronomy Enthusiast and Science Communicator: Chelle’s dedication to science extends beyond her academic pursuits. She is an avid amateur astronomer who volunteers her time at the Perth Observatory, utilizing telescopes and imparting her knowledge about the mysteries of space to visitors. She actively participates in STEM events and looks forward to contributing to the STEM engagement and events team at the Perth Observatory.

Giving Back to the Community: Chelle understands the value of giving back to the community. She recently commenced volunteering with Camp Quality, contributing to both virtual and overnight camps as a rover. She is deeply committed to providing enriching experiences for children through these endeavors and consistently advocates for STEM and science.

Balancing Act: Between her academic studies, professional commitments, and community service, Chelle still finds time to indulge her passions. She’s an aspiring guitarist, steadily building the confidence to perform in front of strangers. Her love for fine dining allows her to reconnect with her culinary roots. At home, Chelle shares her life with her husband and a lively fur family consisting of two cats and two energetic dogs, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in their household.
